I thought I wanted to quit Treches to pursue other creative projects, but it turns out life's no fun when you give up on your dream and passion.
I've had plenty of time to think and want to do a lot of things different this time around. Most importantly, no more pre-order, no more biannual collections and stressing myself out.
I want to focus on fun unisex and androgynous clothing and not try to please everyone with my designs.

I've been so lucky to find a new home for Treches in the collective behind SHIO, we're four creatives working together and next to each other in different mediums: Kelly from Pastperfekt, Leah from Pulp papier and Kate from SHIO.
All my new stuff is exclusively sold there (and online as soon as I'll get some new pictures taken).

NO NEW COLLECTION

Treches won't be showing a new collection at Berlin Fashion Week next week. Actually, we'll probably never do another full collection again. Yes, that's right, - we're CLOSING UP.

Treches were born back in 2008, when I (Jeanette B Rossow) decided to make fashion-forward, sustainable and affordable streetwear. I designed and sew everything myself and sold it in my own small shop and in start-up organic stores that dared give a brand new label a chance (Thank you!) I had high ideals and wanted to do everything right with Treches - sourcing sustainably, recycling materials as well as waste, flat-structured work hierarchy, produce locally, affordable for the (my) community, and of course, having ever new and innovative designs.

Now, 6 years later, I feel the more we grew, the further I drifted away from my ideals. Fair, local production is expensive, which made us calculate minimal margins to stay affordable, which meant we had to sell bigger amounts to cover costs, in turn making the designs less innovative...

Of course it can be done, it just won't be done by me.

I will take a break to work on different small creative projects and learn and explore new stuff for a while. I might launch new capsule collections or similar for Treches, but it will be on a much smaller scale and away from the forced routine of the fashion circus.

I'll keep the online shop open to get rid of stock and probably throw a sale soon.

Lastly, I'm wishing all my colleagues in the sustainable fashion business the best of luck and success. What they are doing is very important, exhausting and hopefully game-changing!

We're moving out of our studio+store in Weserstrasse and to a new studio in Zossener Strasse in Kreuzberg. We will not have a store there, so from now on, to buy our clothes you'll have to go to one of our stockists!

We'll be renovating the next few weeks and then get on with production of the winter collection and development of future collections!

Most of our new summer collection "Fake Nature" has now been shipped to our stores!
..but we still have a few more pieces to finish!

The collection is produced by Wergo, a berliner manufacturer, one T-shirt in Kottbus, and the rest by us (Henriette, Jennifer, Jessi, Eva, Evgenia and Jeanette) in our studio in Neukölln.

Å - NEW COLLECTION

A new collection is ready to be shown at Berlin Fashion Week in January.
Our winter collection for 2014/15 is titled "Å" after the small town in Northern Norway. It's a collection with big contrasts between light and dark, where warm and cozy is mixed eclectically with the urban Treches' street style.

For the first time, we'll show at Ethical Fashion Show in Ewerk Berlin. Press and buyers can visit the fair from January 14th -16th.

While it's steaming hot outside, we're busy sewing winter-pullovers!

Most clothes produced by us are cut out by Jeanette and sewn together by Henriette or Evgenia, either in our studio or at their home. Our current intern Kätlin is also giving a helping hand with sewing and product development.
New for us this season is the cooperation with the small manufacturer Wergo, they are finishing 4 of our winter items in Berlin Wedding.

VERNISSAGE AT DEARGOODS BERLIN

The vegan and organic concept store DearGoods has invited us to do a vernissage at their place, showing pieces from our brand new collection.

FELLOWSHIP 500 & SOURCE

We're also talking part in SOURCE, that's a new online brand-preview event organized by the same people that do the Fellowship 500; the Ethical Fashion Forum.

We're doing two Christmas Markets this year: The HoHoHo Market in Kater Holzig on Friday 30. November & Saturday 01. December where we'll have a limited edition of a brand new jumper made with leftovers from the Tempelhof-Jumper production.

LEFTOVER FABRICS

No matter how much we try to avoid it, the production of our clothing creates waste: the small corners and cut-aways adds up, and as our production is getting bigger so is the amount of waste we create.

That's why it would make us so happy if someone could use these leftovers to make something new from them. If you're working on a project and need lots of small pieces of fabric for patchwork, filling, etc., please contact Jeanette to arrange a pick-up!

BEYOND FASHION SUMMIT

BFS is a yearly conference with lectures and workshops on the development and role of fashion.

This year's Summit takes place in Station-Berlin on the 15th and 16th of November. We're looking forward to two days packed with new input, this year under the theme of "Hypernature". Of particular interest to us is the seminar held by Warwick Fox on environmental philosophy and his new approach to and fusion of human- and environmental ethics.
